Umönnunarsmiðja - Care Work Fundamentals

Do you want to work in social or health care but do not have sufficient skills in Icelandic? Part II starts 19th of February.

 

Participants

The program is aimed at those who wish to work in social or health care, in such institutions as residential homes, home services or care/ support for the sick or disabled.

 

Requirements

The requirement for admission is skills in Icelandic corresponding to Icelandic Level II and it is desirable to have experience or studies useful in the job.

 

Goals of the Course

·        Empower participants in using Icelandic with emphasis on care work

·        Increase participant‘s ability to cope with a job in the care sector

·        Various workshops focusing on practical learning

·        On-the-job training

 

Teaching methods:

Great emphasis is placed on diverse teaching methods.

 

Locations

Taught in MSS and various workplaces.

Assessment

Project work and active participation.

Duration

168 hours total

Dates

7th of January to 18th of February. Classes taught every weekday from 13:00 - 15:45. 

 

It will be taught according to the curriculum of the National Education Centre.

 

 

The programme is supported by the Directorate of Labour.
